Casimiroa Luke has a mild and sweet flavor that resembles a combination of peach, banana, and pear, with a smooth texture.
The tree is an excellent specimen, with a bushy and semi-weeping habit. It has rich green foliage and a short semi-deciduous period after flowering. It is a small to medium-sized tree, growing up to 4 meters in both height and spread.
Casimiroa Luke is self-fertile, and pollinated fruit grows largest, containing 1-5 large seeds embedded in the flesh. Unpollinated fruit does form, but these seedless fruits are generally much smaller.
To harvest the fruit, it should be picked while still firm and changing color from green to a lighter shade of green. When the fruit is mature enough to pick, it can be released from the tree with a gentle twist. The fruit has paper-thin skin and is best hand-picked to prevent damage and spoilage. After harvesting, the fruit ripens quickly and can be stored in cool conditions for up to two weeks, but this ability may vary from variety to variety. The main fruiting season for Casimiroa Luke is from May to June.
