Proudly developed in Northland and released into the market by our nursery, this remarkable cherimoya has a creamy, delicate, sweet flavour, with a slightly different texture to other cherimoya varieties, where the seeds are encased in a pocket of flesh. With fewer seeds and a perfect balance of flavors, Jack has quickly become one of our favorites here at the nursery.
Cherimoya Trees thrive in New Zealand’s temperate climate, and prefer a sunny, sheltered spot with well-draining soil. Keep the soil consistently moist by mulching, especially during dry spells, but be careful to avoid waterlogging. A balanced fertiliser during spring and summer will help promote healthy growth and abundant fruit. Light pruning can help maintain its shape and encourage better fruit production, while frost cloth is recommended to protect young trees in cooler regions during winter. Mulching benefits cherimoya trees immensely, keeping the soil temperature regulated, retaining moisture, and keeping weeds and competition down.
