Finger Lime - Mini Leaf Green

Introducing our nurseries third Finger Lime release - Mini Leaf Green! This unusual variety produces large, long green coloured fruit, that have a green flesh, and little to no seeds. Compared to the standard green finger lime, Mini Leaf's fruit are slightly longer, and less seedy (almost seedless). 

The tree itself has unusually small leaves, much smaller than all the other finger lime varieties available, and significantly smaller than standard lime leaves. They are petite and cute, and create a very ornamental plant, especially when pruned into a nice shape. 

Finger limes grow well in containers, and love free draining soil, with a mulch layer. They grow well in both direct sun, and part sun positions, and can handle light frosts once established. While establishing, you will need to frost protect them with either a frost cloth, liquid frost cloth, or take the plant into a sheltered spot if it is in a container.

Trees that are pruned early will bush out, however if unpruned, they grow more upright. Finger limes send out long water sprouts which then become their branches, so you can easily shape the trees to how you would like them to look in the future. 

Mini Leaf Green are grafted onto Rosenburg Trifoliata, which is a semi dwarfing tree that produces more flowers and fruit, and fruit with a higher brix content than other trifoliatas available in New Zealand. The tree will grow to around 3-3.5 meters high, and 2 meters wide.
