The Blackberry Jam Fruit (Rosenbergiodendron formosum, sometimes classified as Randia formosa) is a unique and desirable fruit tree known for its unusual flavor. The thin layer of flesh surrounding the seed is said to taste remarkably like blackberry jam, offering a delicious treat when the fruit ripens to a yellow hue. This slow-growing, bushy shrub is not only a source of tasty fruit but also an attractive addition to the garden, boasting fragrant flowers that add to its appeal. It's a relatively compact tree, reaching a height of 2-5 meters in the ground, but can be pruned to maintain a smaller size, making it suitable for even smaller gardens.
This tropical and subtropical plant thrives in warm climates, preferring temperatures above 5 degrees Celsius and part shade conditions (50-80% sunlight). It is an evergreen, retaining its leaves throughout the year. While it can be grown in pots, it's crucial to provide well-drained, moderately acidic soil (pH 5.5-6.5). The Blackberry Jam Fruit is sensitive to overwatering, especially during cooler months. For optimal fruiting, at least three plants (both male and female) are required for pollination
