Cherimoya - Burton's Favourite - Grafted

Annona cherimola

Burton's Favourite is a stunning New Zealand developed variety of Cherimoya, which is produced on a medium sized tree that tends to have a bushy habit. The tree has large, oval-shaped, olive-green leaves with soft and velvety undersides and performs well in cooler climates. The fruit are medium-large, with a very sweet flesh and superb flavour. We have found this variety to be a very heavy flowering and cropping cherimoya, so a perfect selection if you only have space for 1 tree but want a heap of fruit.

Although hand pollination is often recommended, we have found that ants do a fantastic job of pollinating Cherimoya, and we have not noticed a difference in yield from hand pollination or natural pollination. 

The fruit is harvested from late winter to spring. Once mature, the fruit is picked and ripened at room temperature. The fruit are used for many things including a sweet addition to smoothies, however this variety is perfect for slicing in half and eating it fresh with a spoon.
