Pineapple - Red (Cold hardy)

The Red Pineapple  (Ananas bracteatus) is a hardy pineapple that can be easily grown all over New Zealand. It produces sweet and juicy pineapples and spectacular flowers. It should be planted in full sun or filtered light, in well-draining soil with plenty of fertiliser, protected from frost and staked against wind.  The fruit tastes like a mixture between a typical pineapple flavor and a sweet green apple.
